Dear Friends & Colleagues,
We invite you to attend the largest gathering of the opioid treatment community, where you will have unparalleled opportunities to meet with and learn from colleagues from the US and many other countries. This year’s theme is “Evidence-Based Principles & Practices: Improving Medication Assisted Treatment. In a period of changing dynamics, it is critically important to tailor treatment practice based on years of research-based evidence.

Our distinguished plenary speakers will provide an overview of key issues in the addiction field. Remarkably, our workshop submissions improve with every conference. This year we offer a wide range of topics, from basic information for entry-level staff to specialized topics for people focused on specific populations or clinical and program issues. There will also be updates on urgent or controversial subjects, and interactive events to explore them. Our Pre-Conference activities will provide a chance to explore some issues in greater depth. Representatives from other countries will offer the unique perspectives you can only get when looking through the lens of different cultures.

Much of the benefit of the conference comes from the informal interactions. This conference is attended by representatives from federal and state government entities, provider organizations, researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, administrators, and accrediting bodies. There are also chances to make direct contact with your national and local AATOD representatives during the Open AATOD Board Meeting, Welcome Reception, Continental Breakfast, Refreshment Breaks, memorable Awards Banquet and other conference activities. The exhibits provide possibilities to examine new technology, and learn about new books and programs. Suggestions for activities in the wonderful city of San Diego and facility tours will also be available through our Hospitality Committee. Our helpful volunteers are committed to assist you in a variety of ways. Don’t be shy about exercising your networking skills; many long relationships begin and develop at conferences such as this.

The host, California Organization of Opioid Maintenance Providers and sponsors Aegis Medical System, Inc., Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment and CRC Health Group are very proud to be joined with AATOD to convene the 2007 National Conference. This will be a memorable experience for you, your colleagues, and any family members who accompany you.

We look forward to seeing you in San Diego.

Sincerely,

Joan Zweben, Ph.D.
