This workshop will provide administrators and community partners an opportunity to examine models of effective strategies used in practice that were specifically designed to reduce recidivism and increase treatment outcomes, all while addressing the overarching opioid epidemic. Presenters will share how the court and treatment providers came together to meet the treatment needs of those best suited for medication assisted treatment and examine the specifics of the model, recidivism rates of those engaged, and other treatment outcomes. In addition, presenters will also discuss models for direct pathways to assessment, medication, and placement in appropriate levels of care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe a clear understanding of multiple models used in the criminal justice system to engage individuals in treatment
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to define the objective data used to determine the effects of utilizing medication assisted treatment in the problem solving courts.
  • Describe a clear understanding of how to merge medication assisted treatment with the criminal justice system.
