Policy Related Issues and Conference Registration

The Conference Planning Committee has been working hard to develop an exciting Conference program with truly cutting-edge information. You are going to receive registration information during May 2019, which will list our pre-conference sessions, workshop sessions, hot topic roundtable discussions, poster sessions and plenary sessions.
The theme of the Conference will present information on how our treatment system has been emerging from the shadows over the course of many years as we become an essential part of the continuum of care for our patients. As you know, there are multiple daily media reports about untreated opioid use disorder and the increasing demands on the treatment system.
Our Conference provides many networking opportunities as we cross a number of policymaking thresholds and offer recommendations for the best clinical practices in treating this disorder in the United States and other countries.
We are also working more closely with our international colleagues and they will have featured presentations on Sunday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon. We are also working with our colleagues in Drug Courts and correctional settings and there will be featured pre-conference sessions dedicated to these topics in addition to workshop sessions.
The theme of the Tuesday morning plenary will be devoted to working with colleagues in the criminal justice system. Paul Samuels (President of the Legal Action Center) will moderate this session, which will include Judge Jeri Cohen (Circuit Court Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit), Jim Pavletich (Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care) and Sheriff Dennis Lemma (Sheriff of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office).
The Conference convenes against a backdrop of a stunning hotel setting in a very exciting city. We have carefully selected the property so that our colleagues will feel welcome at every turn and will enjoy the hospitality of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resorts and the great opportunities that Walt Disney World has to offer. It will give our Conference participants a time to enjoy the presentations, catch up with colleagues and meet new people.
Reminder, keep an eye out for the full schedule of the conference with session descriptions during May 2019. We look forward to seeing you at Walt Disney World for a truly refreshing and enjoyable learning experience.
