Continuing Education Credits

Historically AATOD has provided Continuing Education Credits at the National Conferences.

Continuing Education Credits for the 2006 AATOD Conference is as follows:

  • AATOD, provider #1044, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work  Boards (ASWB).
  • AATOD is an approved provider through NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals (Provider #000218).
  • Application to award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be submitted to the following organizations:
  1. New York State Nurses Association’s Council on Continuing Education, which is accredited by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
  2. Georgia Psychological Association to award CEUs to psychologists.
  3. National Board of Certified Counselors.
  4. Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia.

Note: The Georgia Addiction Counselors Association Certification Board accepts NAADAC-approved training hours.

As a point of reference, the 2004 AATOD Conference in Orlando, Florida offered the following Continuing Education Credits:

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDITS
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American Society of Addiction
Medicine (ASAM) and the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) designates this continuing medical education activity for 24.25 credit hours in Category 1 of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTACT HOURS
The New York State Nurses Association’s Council on Continuing Education, which is accredited by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation, to award up to 33.6 contact hours for this Education Design I activity.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc., provider # 1044, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, phone: 1-800-225-6880, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc. maintains responsibility for the program.

Social workers will receive 36 continuing education clock hours in participating in this course.
