There
are 3 categories a member can fall within: Program Membership, Individual
Membership and State Membership. The following are descriptions
of each of these membership categories.
Program
Membership
Any treatment program in good standing
may apply for program membership at the annual dues fee of $250.00.
Programs must be in good standing to apply for membership.
Good standing implies that programs follow the principles outlined
in the Association's Canon of Ethics. Program
members are required to sign a statement to this effect. Please
note that programs within AATOD's existing state membership may
NOT apply for individual program membership.

advisories, research reviews and special surveys, in addition
to conference/training event announcements

information about international patient travel by contacting AATOD's
office
Individual
Membership
Any person involved in the opioid treatment
system (patient, family member, ect.) may apply for individual membership
at the annual dues fee of $125.00.

advisories, research reviews and special surveys, in addition
to conference/training event announcements.

State Membership
If the opioid treatment programs within your
state are interested in applying for STATE MEMBERSHIP within AATOD,
Interested parties should contact Mark W. Parrino, President, directly
to obtain more detailed information about the State Membership Application
process. There is a separate dues structure for state membership
in the Association.
STATE
MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES

1.

State
members of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid
Dependence are recognized state methadone provider groups. |

2.
|
State
methadone provider groups seeking membership must be in existence
for no less than one year and have elected officers and bylaws.
|

|
|
3.
|
State
methadone provider groups may seek membership in the American
Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence by sending
a letter of request to the President, who will forward the letter
to the Membership Committee for action. |

4.
|
A
state methadone provider group must include the majority of
the licensed methadone programs in that state and be recognized
by the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence
as the legitimate provider group to be considered for membership
within the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid
Dependence. |

5.
|
If
accepted for membership, the state methadone provider group
must be able to pay the dues assessment on an annual basis to
maintain membership. |

|
6.
|
Membership
entitles a representative of the state provider group to attend
and vote at AATOD Board Meetings and receive all American Association
for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence publications and services.

|
7.
|
The
state methadone provider group must subscribe to the
Ethical Canon of the American Association for the Treatment
of Opioid Dependence. The state's Board member will sign a statement
that she/he certifies to the best of her/his knowledge that
the methadone programs in their state are following the principles
of the Ethical Canon. |

8.
|
The
Board of Directors of the American Association for the Treatment
of Opioid Dependence has the authority to expel any state provider
group and/or its Board member from the Board of Directors if
that individual's or organization's activities are harmful to
the goals and purposes of the American Association for the Treatment
of Opioid Dependence and/or the state provider group fails to
pay its annual dues. |

No
Board member shall represent more than one state. |
