The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) currently has members representing 21 states including the District of Columbia, which include approximately 800 treatment programs throughout the United States. We also have individual member programs in 11 other states.

Since AATOD works on behalf of all our members (and indeed, the treatment field as a whole), all members and patients share in our successes. However, our Association's strength depends entirely on the strength of our membership, and we would like to include as many states and programs as possible in the effort.

These are the primary principles for programs and individuals seeking AATOD membership:

Promote the growth and development of opioid treatment services.

Enhance the quality of patient care in the provision of services to opioid dependent.individuals and their families.

Support programs and services relative to the treatment and prevention of substance abuse.

Assist in the development of treatment interventions for HIV infection, tuberculosis, hepatitis and their associated illnesses.

Promote coordination and communication among opioid treatment programs.

Advise members as to changes in applicable laws and regulations and advancements in opioid treatment.

Assist the general public in its understanding of opioid treatment.
