I am pleased to welcome you to AATOD’s updated website, which includes current information about AATOD’s leading policy initiatives, including the Criminal Justice Initiative to expand access to medication-assisted treatment through the nation’s Criminal Justice system, including correctional facilities, Drug Courts and probation offices.

Additionally, we have made considerable progress in our research initiative, funded through the Denver Health & Hospital Authority and partnered with NDRI, concerning changing patterns of opioid abuse as patients are admitted to our treatment programs.

We are also working with our California associates to produce AATOD’s next National Conference, which will convene at the Sheraton hotel & Marina in San Diego , hosted by the California Organization of Opioid Maintenance Providers and Chaired by Dr. Joan Zweben.

Our Board of Directors has also recently approved our initiative to affiliate with our associates in Mexico as we continue to work with our European associates (EUROPAD) creating a worldwide federation of opioid treatment programs.

AATOD’s Board of Directors has also approved our latest Five-Year Plan (2007-2011) providing guidance to the field as we prepare for the future. All of these issues will be featured at the conference in San Diego and it is our hope that you find value in this updated website.

We also encourage you to view our Membership section and to contact us if you have any interest in joining as individual members, program members or in developing statewide associations. This is all part of our effort to expand access to quality addiction treatment services throughout the United States and the world.
