Community Education Kit: Medication Assisted Treatment for the 21st Century SAMHSA/CSAT published this kit during 2003. It provides the most current information available about methadone maintenance and buprenorphine treatment and is a valuable resource to the entire substance abuse and prevention community. It is also a great resource to treatment providers throughout the mental health spectrum in addition to representatives from drug courts, jails and probation and parole. Methadone treatment providers from throughout the U.S. have found this a particularly excellent resource. The AATOD's Public Relation Committee developed the original version 2000 of this kit and was involved in editing all major components of this kit. Many people were involved in creating this kit. To

Methadone-Associated
Mortality Report This report was prepared by a panel of federal and state agency officials and experts in the addiction treatment field clearly documents that the overwhelming majority of the methadone attributed deaths were in fact associated with the improper use of methadone as an analgesic and distributed through pharmacies as opposed to properly medicated patients receiving comprehensive treatment services in federally licensed methadone programs. Please read the links below to learn more about these groundbreaking findings.
