Steve
Flora is the President of the Alabama Methadone Treatment Association
(ALAMTA) and a member of the Board of Directors of the American
Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD)
Mr.
Flora has worked in the field of substance abuse treatment for more
than 12 years. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from
Columbus College, Columbus, Georgia in 1981, while serving as an
officer in the United States Army. Following his retirement from
the Army in 1992, he served as the Program Director of Huntsville
Metro Treatment Center, Huntsville, Alabama. He served in a number
of clinical and management positions within Colonial Management
Group, LP, Huntsville Metro Treatment Center's parent organization,
before returning to Huntsville Metro as its current Program Director.
Recently
elected to his second term as President of the Alabama Methadone
Treatment Association, Mr. Flora also serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of the Alabama Alcohol & Drug Abuse Association
and is a volunteer program and administrative surveyor for the Committee
for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Mr.
Flora is originally from South Carolina. He is married to the former
Brenda Buchanan of Columbus, Georgia, is the father of two adult
daughters and the grandfather of four. Mr. and Mrs. Flora make their
home in Huntsville, Alabama.
