This presentation will prepare opioid treatment programs (OTPs) to effectively partner with local correctional facilities in management of opioid use disorder (OUD). In order for correctional facilities to offer methadone for continuation, withdrawal management or initiation/induction, they need to partner with community OTPs. This interactive presentation will examine barriers, practical solutions and models for partnership between OTPs and correctional facilities surrounding management of OUD.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify reasons why opioid treatment programs (OTPs) should consider partnering with correctional facilities including jails and prisons.
  • Identify barriers to OTP-corrections partnerships
  • Identify successful strategies for OTP-corrections partnerships

As supporters of #MedicationAssistedTreatment, we understand the dangers of allowing methadone – a Schedule II narcotic – to be distributed at local pharmacies.
