Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Dr. Trevisan is a board certified Addiction Psychiatrist with extensive experience in substance use and mental disorders treatment with a special focus on the Older Adult Population.

During his career he has served as the Medical Director for the Substance Abuse Inpatient Treatment Program at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Connecticut Healthcare System (VACHS). As the Clinical Director and Associate Chief of Psychiatry of the VACHS Mental Health Service Line, he oversaw all clinical activities and operations. During this time, he continued to have an expanded role in the education of Yale School of Medicine medical students and psychiatry residents rotating in the psychiatric emergency room, inpatient unit and consultation liaison services. He also served as the Chair of Performance Improvement. Recently he was the VISN 1 (New England Region) Mental Health Service Line Director. Prior to coming to SAMHSA, Dr. Trevisan served as the Substance Use Disorder Lead Consultant for the VA’s National TeleMental Health Center and also provided direct Substance Use Disorder services via telemental health to rural areas of Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island via the Office of Rural Health at VACHS.

Dr. Trevisan received his medical degree from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Yale University Department of Psychiatry and Yale-New Haven Hospital.
