Margaret B. Rizzo

New Jersey

Margaret Rizzo began working at JSAS HealthCare, Inc. (formerly Jersey Shore Addiction Services) in 1991.  From 1984 to 2017, JSAS HealthCare, Inc. was under the direction of Edward J. Higgins, a founding member of AATOD and long-term New Jersey Board delegate.  JSASHC has become a model program in New Jersey treating patients with opioid use disorders using medication-assisted treatment.

Over the years, Maggie has held several positions at JSASHC including overseeing the integration of manual to computerized systems, IT, accreditation, corporate compliance, human resources and grants management.  She received her degree in Computer Science at Ocean County College and is continuing to pursue a dual degree in Business Administration and Management at Thomas Edison State University.

Maggie is currently the Executive Director of JSAS HealthCare, Inc. and serves as Treasurer to the New Jersey Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (NJATOD).

  • Lev Facher represented a fair reporting of the current #methadone policy debate that took place at last week’s #STATSummit.

“Mark Parrino, AATOD’s founder and president, cautioned during the panel that achieving sweeping change might not be so easy. The health system, he argued, is unprepared and even unwilling to make methadone a part of primary care. Potential obstacles, he said, include doctors’ lack of enthusiasm about prescribing methadone; pharmacists’ unwillingness to stock and dispense it; and drug manufacturers’ reluctance to manufacture and distribute it more widely, especially following the lawsuits and criticism many have experienced in the wake of the opioid crisis and the prescription opioid oversupply that accelerated it.” #morethanmedicine #opioidusedisorder #OpposetheMOTAA
