New York is committed to combatting the opioid epidemic and supports the growth of innovative partnerships and opportunities among all providers to address addiction. This workshop will focus on statutory, regulatory and administrative actions taken by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, the Office of Children and Family Services, the Department of Health, the Office of Mental Health, the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Department of Financial Services to create systems capable of responding to issues as they arise in a manner that is sustainable well beyond the current epidemic. Topics covered include: reimbursement for harm reduction services; inclusion of opioid treatment programs in networks; expanding access to methadone in correctional settings; plan of safe care implementation; reducing the stigma associated with methadone by amending regulatory language and creating an Ombudsman Program to support access to behavioral health care.
