Dr. Barry is a clinical psychologist and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Child Study at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Barry is the Director of Research and Founding Director of Pain Treatment Services at the APT Foundation, a not-for-profit community-based organization in Connecticut, which is one of the largest providers of opioid agonist treatment in Southern New England. Pain Treatment Services is an outpatient training and research clinic that specializes in the assessment and treatment of individual with co-occurring chronic pain and opioid use disorder. His research is aimed at: (1) developing and evaluating treatments for patients with chronic pain and opioid use disorder and (2) examining the role of sociocultural factors in the occurrence and treatment of pain and addictions. Dr. Barry is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health as well as the Health Disparities in Addiction Section Editor of Current Addiction Reports . He also serves on the editorial board of Pain Medicine.
