Mr. Maulhardt, active in the field for two decades, helped establish one of the nation’s leading and largest OTP provider system in California, Aegis Treatment Centers. As Aegis CFO, he established a culture of unquestionable ethics and compliance. As Aegis VP, he battled years of entrenched stigma as an impassioned advocate for MAT with county and state government. Mr. Maulhardt gave patients a voice as an active member of various state and county committees to help draft sound policy into legislation. He has tirelessly advocated for MAT patients with the California State legislature, and for Senate and Assembly bills to raise standards for accreditation and certification, for supporting patient rights, and for improving treatment accessibility. In 2010, Mr. Maulhardt was instrumental in working with the Patient Advisory and Advocacy Group in reversing then-Governor Schwarzenegger’s effort to remove OTP services from the state’s Medicaid system. As a result of his work, California has seen enormous, positive change in community acceptance of OTPs.
