Walter Ling, MD

Professor Emeritus

Walter Ling MD is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and the founding director of the Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP) at UCLA. He is board certified in both neurology and psychiatry and has enjoyed a successful career in research and practice for more than five decades. His research had contributed pivotal data to the Food and Drugs Administration’s approval of all the currently available medications in Medication Assisted Treatment—methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.

Although officially retired, Dr. Ling has remained active in teaching, research and consultation. He is the author of the highly acclaimed book “Mastering the Addicted Brain”, available in Thai and will be published in Chinese later this year. An audio version will also be available soon.

As supporters of #MedicationAssistedTreatment, we understand the dangers of allowing methadone – a Schedule II narcotic – to be distributed at local pharmacies.
